Values
These values define what we consider most important. They guide our decision-making and shape how we build — the product and the team.
- Weird is the point. Working at Degen means being part of a team that celebrates the unconventional. We build AI for the bold, the strange, and the creatively unhinged — and that starts with who we hire.
- Orthogonal thinking. The best solutions come from unexpected angles. We challenge ourselves to question assumptions, reframe problems, and find approaches nobody else considered. Conventional wisdom is a starting point, not a ceiling.
- Ship with conviction. We believe ideas die in drafts. Shipping something real — even imperfect — is how we learn. We move fast, gather signal, and iterate with intention. Velocity is a value.
- Own it completely. There are no hand-offs at Degen. If it matters, someone owns it — and that person takes it all the way. Ownership isn't assigned, it's claimed.
Operating Principles
These principles define how we work together. They are the habits and instincts that make up our operating culture day to day.
- Find a way. We give people the agency to solve problems their own way. Ideas come from everywhere, regardless of title or tenure. If you see something broken, you're empowered to fix it.
- Honest over nice. We give direct feedback because we respect each other's time and potential. Politeness that hides the truth is just a slower form of failure. We say what we mean and mean what we say.
- Update quickly. We come in with hypotheses, not conclusions. When new information arrives, we change our minds. Flexibility is strength. Ego is a bottleneck.
- Intense focus. We work hard on things that matter and cut everything that doesn't. Clarity on what counts is how we make decisions and stay fast as we grow.
